Privacy Policy

PurposeGate is designed so personal activity never needs to leave the user's device. There is no account, cloud sync, advertising, analytics, or server-side activity collection.

Data Stored Locally

PurposeGate may store the following information in Chrome extension storage and IndexedDB:

• Website rules, schedules, budgets, redirects, and reminder preferences.
• Active-use sessions for websites configured by the user.
• YouTube video IDs, titles, links, viewing intentions, timestamps, and active playing durations when the YouTube rule is enabled.
• Enforcement, redirect, schedule-transition, and override events.

Use, Sharing, and Transfer

PurposeGate uses local activity records only to provide its user-facing accountability features: rule enforcement, activity review, exports, and deletion controls. PurposeGate does not sell, transmit, or share this data with third parties.

PurposeGate's use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Retention and Control

Activity is automatically deleted after 90 days. Users can delete a selected day or all activity at any time, and can export their records as JSON or CSV. Removing the extension removes its extension-owned local storage according to Chrome's extension-storage behavior.

Permissions

• storage: save local settings and extension state.
• tabs, webNavigation, and idle: determine whether a configured site is the active, focused page without counting idle time.
• alarms: checkpoint usage, apply schedule boundaries, prune old data, and run an optional reminder.
• declarativeNetRequest: block or redirect user-configured sites.
• YouTube host access: provide the optional per-video intention workflow.
• Optional site access: enforce rules only for hostnames the user adds.
• Optional notifications: display a local daily-review reminder when explicitly enabled.

User Responsibility

PurposeGate is a self-accountability tool, not parental-control or security software. A user can disable or uninstall it through Chrome.
